Dustin Salter

I've been following Dustin Salter's story for several months. He was in a biking accident in November and has been in a coma since. He passed away today.

I did not know him personally, and I've been amazed how heartbroken I can feel about the struggles that other bloggers I've never met are going through!

I know Dustin is in a beautiful place and I'm guessing that most people would not consider laying in a bed unaware of what is around you the life they want (I certainly would not want to live that way!).

But, my heart aches for his wife, and my heart breaks for their children. I know that God is father to the fatherless and that he works all things out for the good of those who love him - as this family does. But, I see the disappointed look in my children's eyes when their daddy leaves for work early and they don't get to say bye. And I see them light up and race to see who can get the first hug when he gets home. And my heart breaks for those 3 children.

Some things are just too tough to understand. Only with complete trust in God can we keep faith.

We can only rely on the fact that God is Sovereign.

I read a long time ago somewhere about the one question God did not answer for Jesus was why. "Why hast thou forsaken me?" Since then I try to abstain from asking "Why". I'm not always successful, but I try.

PS How old are the children and what are their first names so we can pray. Also the wifes name. Thanks

Oh how sad. I will be praying for his wife and children.

That is terribly sad. I will remember that family in my prayers too.

Now that is too interesting!! I also prayed for the Salter family. They are friends of our very good friends Heather and John Ferguson--went to school together and serve in RUF. The Fergusons are serving in Peru now.

I think that is really neat! I'm really off to bed now for a nap!
In His Joy,
