Tiny Talk

My kiddos are still in the "knock, knock" phase. Their favorite one goes like this:

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Interrupting cow.
Interru..
MOO!

There are lots of variations, such as:
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Interrupting donkey.
Interru..
Hee-Haw!

My favorite is one Punkin made up:
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Interrupting nose.
Interru..
Ah-Choo!

Does this dinner conversation have a familiar ring to it?

Little Man: I'm eating my chicken.
WeaverDad: It's not chicken, it's fish.
Little Man: (pause) You mean this swimmed in the water? (Complete with hand motions of a fish swimming.)
Punkin: Well, it did swimmed, but now it's dead.

I really wish writing could do the dead comment justice. It was so matter-of-fact, it just cracked us up.

And, by the way, why isn't it swimmed?

Quote

I came across this quote and really like it:

Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand.

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we went to Bandimere Speedway for the "Family Fun Day" and JetCar National Race. (More Little Man heaven. :) )There were other race cars as well, and booths with a pie-eating contest, a watermelon contest, a magic show, lots of food, jumpy castles and other family events.

We had a fun day!

Here are WeaverDad and the kids. (Little Man calls this style of cars with the thing on the hood "engine cars". )Here we all are with the only female driver of a Jet Car. She and her husband both race. Her car is called the "Her-icane".
Here are the kids in her husband's car:

Punkin got to be an assistant in a magic show! This and the fireworks
were the highlight of her 4th of July.
Here are two of the jet cars in action:
Drag car race. Can you tell how far you can see? Way in the background -
that's Denver. We could see at least 6 firework shows from here!
