Home Sweet Home

We are finally home after an extended trip to see family. I'll post some pics and tell you the highlights when I've recovered from driving for 14 hours straight!

I read an article today that I LOVED. It's from a mom who's son just got his drivers' license and she is talking about how she has spent years protecting him and now he is driving! Alone! In a car!

I have, well - I'll call them "car issues" although some might say that is a bit of an understatement. So even though Punkin is only 6, I'm already dreading the whole driver's license saga.

So, here is my mental goal. I've got 10 more years to get to this state of mind. :)
Sixteen years and one driver's license later, I'm finally learning to accept that fear doesn't keep a child safe, any more than faith assures immunity from harm. It's no longer my job to protect my son from the world but rather to let him know that I believe he can handle it - and that I trust him enough to let him try."

I hope you can really remember this when your day come. It's very difficult to really put total confidence in that child who seems so very young. You close your eyes and pray A LOT! Thankfully God is in the car with them!

Welcome back! That will be a challenging mental goal but I'm sure it would be a huge blessing for my children if I can get there...IF...

Welcome back Weaver Mom you've been missed. 10 years is a loooog time away. You will not be the same person 10 years from now. None of us are!!!!

It's nice to have you back! And those words of wisdom sure are hard to swallow. And yet, what else can we do? Sigh...

so glad i have the years that you do to prepare myself! letting go of him for the 7 hours a day in kindergarten was HORRIBLE.

aaaaaah!! My oldest is now 15... so I don't have those ten years left to prepare anymore... but I think I'm okay.... I did use to worry about it... but I'm quite confident in her level of responsibility... she makes good decisions most of the time..almost all the time actually... So I guess we'll just have to pray for her safety and get her into a good driving school!!!
