The Nile runs through our home
So, it's definitely not the greatest picture - but it is the best picture I got! They were having such fun floating their boats down the Nile River that every single picture I took was blurry. *smile*
For our Egypt unit, we made the Nile River run through our home for a few days with blue cellophane, and made papyrus boats out of straws. They turned out much cuter than I thought they would (but if I had to do it again I would skip the brown spray paint. It looked so nice at first, but I now have brown flecks of paint covering many things in my house!)
This unit is going so much smoother - although I still can't seem to get Punkin to stop doing handstands every 5 seconds. (Ideas welcome!) Anyway, Punkin is fascinated by everything about ancient Egypt, and really wants to learn more about mummies. So far, we've talked about the Nile River, kings & queens and the power they have (and that God is always in charge of them ultimately), and the type of clothes they wore and houses they lived in.
And, yes, for those of you who really know my son, SnugBug thinks cars are especially fun on crinkly cellophane. :)

What fun! I'm sure they are both learning so much!
I am smiling REAL big about the cars "riding" the Nile. That is exactly what my two boys would have been doing. Especially the youngest who loved his hot wheels:o)
So glad I get to go along for the "ride" with your teaching.

This looks fun! The handstands? I'm right there with ya. Except, for Max, its Monster Claws and a loud roar every 5 minutes. I laugh (not really) and join in and then I say, "okay, if you want a snack then you need to finish this page" and it works every time.
Wow! That is neat. Sounds like you make your learning so much fun.
P.S. I was just at the MTM site.
Your meal planning idea is great.
Do you mind emailing me some of your recipes. When you get time.
I don't want you to go to too much trouble....only email recipes that are easy for you to send me.
They are sound so good.
You can send it to my gmail account that is listed on my blog.

Thank you so much.

That looks like FUN! I'll have to try that one of these days.
Is Punkin a kinesthetic learner? Maybe she learns best while doing handstands?!?
Your children will have great memories of their school!
Sounds like fun! I am not creative! I love this though! Easy enough. :)
You are so creative!!! I wish you lived closer. Have fun learning!!
God bless,
Amber
