Lily and her Life

Punkin finally finished her story for the Reading Rainbow contest. Here it is! We talked about what makes a good story - a problem to overcome and hero that does. She dictated to me and I wrote it all out. Her original story was almost 360 words and the limit was 200, so I did help her decide which sentences to take out so that story still makes sense. But she thought of the story all by herself, and she did the drawings without any help from me. The drawings are done in the watercolor pencils that Grandpa got her for her 6th birthday.

Native Americans

We are doing a unit on Native Americans, and having a great time.

Our local Nature & Science museum has a Native American exhibit, so we visited this week. Here were some of the highlights:

A miniature hogan circa 1930 design. (The kids have on crowns from the "gold" exhibit - no photography was allowed in that exhibit.)Inside the hogan playing "house" with another child who was visiting. "Would you like some tea?"

Punkin's favorite exhibit - the tee-pee:Little Man's favorite part - the dinosaur model at the entrance to the museum. He was pretending that the dinosaur was stepping on him.
In the elevator on the way back to our car:
We had a great day!
