My Grandma

For those of you who are the praying kind, can I ask you to add my grandma to your list? She would like for me to pray for God's will for her, and if you would join me I would be honored. Here's a picture of her with our kids in October:

She and I are very close. I lived with her for 2 summers of college, and I had a summer job at the bank where she worked. She is a widow (my granddad passed away 20 yrs ago) and a night owl (as opposed to my parents who go to bed around 8:30), so she is who I call more often when things finally settle down enough that I can be on the phone!

She turned 80 in November, and is having open heart surgery on Feb 20th. They are replacing her aortic valve and part of her aorta to take care of an aneurysm. They have also found a blockage, so there will be one bypass as well. This is a lengthy surgery with many risks, but doing nothing is even riskier.

I am not afraid of death for her - she is a beautiful Christian lady who will be whisked away to heaven, but I would miss her terribly. As she said, - (you have to say this with a Southern accent to really get it) - "Now, I'm not afraid of dying, I'm just afraid that I will miss something here." :)

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I am brand new to this world of blogging and you are my first comment. I so appreciate it and I clicked on it to find you and have just read all your blogs. I retired from a CPA firm as a staff accountant so I know you're joy about the 1099's. I loved your informative blog about the mint. My husband and I both read it. We've never had the privilege of touring one so appreciate all the info on it. We lived a short time in Denver YEARS ago. You sound very interesting and really creative. Your kids are blessed.
